brain keeps your memory on your computer. This page explains the few things that do leave it, on this website and in the app. Last updated: 2026-10-04 (v0.03.1).

This website

  • Hosting. The site is static and hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub receives technical data needed to serve it (such as your IP address and browser) under the GitHub Privacy Statement.
  • Fonts. Fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google (Google Privacy Policy).
  • No analytics, no tracking cookies. The site doesn't use analytics or advertising. It only stores your language choice in your browser (localStorage).

The chat on this website

The chat assistant on the home page is provided by DokBot (www.dokbot.app). What you type there is sent to DokBot, which processes it to answer you under its own terms and privacy policy. The site owner can see those conversations in DokBot to improve the answers. Don't share passwords, keys or sensitive personal data in that chat.

That chat is only on the website. It is not the chat inside the brain app, and it has no access to your brain data.

The brain app

  • Your data stays local. Notes, profile, memory, history, search indexes, settings and backups live in ~/.brain on your computer. There is no brain account, server or telemetry.
  • The app's chat is local. It runs on Ollama on your machine; nothing you write there goes to DokBot or anyone else.
  • When the app goes online: to save or refresh a web page you ask for; to talk to the connections you add (other MCP servers, Composio), each under its own privacy policy; to check GitHub for a new version when the dashboard opens and every 3 hours (it only reads the latest release number and sends nothing about you); when you run a Fact check that needs the web, it sends the claims as search queries to the search engine you chose (DuckDuckGo by default, or your SearXNG or Brave Search) and opens the result pages; if you turn on remote access, to keep the Cloudflare tunnel open; and when you install or update (GitHub, uv, Ollama, Chromium).
  • Secrets. API keys and sign-ins to connections stay in ~/.brain/.env and ~/.brain/data/oauth.json (permissions 600) and are left out of backups unless you choose to include them.
  • Your AI agents. Claude, ChatGPT and the other agents you connect read what brain gives them and send it to their providers under those providers' policies. That's the point of connecting them; you decide which ones.

Este sitio

  • Hosting.
